I’m so excited to show you the session we did with Jessica and Philip. They are an absolutely adorable couple, and their session was short but lots of fun.

We started off with a few shots overlooking the lake at Stone Mountain, as the dark clouds rolled in. Jessica and Philip are so adorable, and he sweetly calls her “Pretty Girl”.

The skies were getting darker, so we picked a great spot of light and started to shoot quickly, but soon the skies opened, and it started to pour.

When I say pour, I mean BUCKETS. Philip did his best to shelter Jessica, as we had left the umbrellas in the car. How romantic is that?

E.J. became momentarily trapped where he was standing to take the photo, under a bridge and now surrounded by rushing water and slippery rocks. But as soon as it let up, he made his way out to the car to get the umbrellas.

Now, I LOVE the rain. I wish we could do more sessions in the rain, really, because it is so romantic (my camera may not prefer the rain, but I love it). And a good drenching like this just kind of makes me laugh. You can’t take yourself too seriously when you’re standing drenched in the pouring rain. Especially now in Atlanta, where all we can talk about is drought, rain to me is a symbol of growth, abundance, new life. And Jessica and Philip were good sports, laughing, huddling together, and showing their lightness of spirit.

So, once E.J. made it back with the umbrellas, we kept shooting a bit longer. Thanks, Jessica and Philip, for a wonderful time in the park. We’ll probably be doing another, drier, session soon.
