In the past, I’ve spoken to people who aren’t from Wisconsin about the joys of fried cheese, usually to looks ranging from mild distaste to confusion to something bordering on horror. Well, I can’t actually give you a taste of fried cheese here on the blog, but I can show the wide range of fried foods on a stick available at the state fair so you’ll know two things: 1) that I’m not crazy, it really does exist, and 2) that fried cheese isn’t even close to the weirdest fried food they’ve got there.

When I saw this at the fair, I could have jumped for joy… maybe I actually did.

And this is what it looks like. Don’t be afraid, it’s kind of like a mozzarella stick with cheddar cheese and super yummy coating.

If that seems a little too difficult to handle, you can also get it on a stick.

Have you ever wanted to have a pork chop, but just couldn’t be bothered with all those pesky plates and utensils?

Don’t worry, you can get side items, too.

And dessert.

Now, I didn’t actually have one of these, but in this case, you can place me firmly in the school of “if it ‘aint broke, don’t fry it.”

I feel like the circle of life won’t be complete until they find a way to put beer on a stick. Maybe some manner of frozen beer-cicle?

The options of treats on a stick is much more varied than I previously believed! And while most of it sounds appealing, I am going to have to agree with you… Deep fried smores and Oreos? I liked them just fine already! Glad you guys had a good trip!

I am utterly amazed! I couldn’t possibly have imagined the depths of fried food on a stick!

I’m dying for a fried cheese curd now… I haven’t had one in forever. Us Wisconsin folk are awesome and we know good cheese and what to do with it. I can totally relate to the “looks of horror” when you mention “cheese curds” to non-wisconsin people. This is why cheese curds is our first course at our wedding dinner. :)

If you’re in Alpharetta, go to SmokeJack’s. They’ve got the BEST fried pickles. And I don’t even like pickles! Have I mentioned how much I MISS YOU BOTH!!!

Another place that serves fried pickles is Fickle Pickle in Historic Roswell:
