Hi everyone,

Today I’m starting a new series of blog entries and tweets, to appreciate the little things in life … the little things that can bring you joy no matter what’s going on in your life. For instance, I always stop and listen when I hear a flock of geese flying overhead, and enjoy a moment of peace. When I smell leaves burning in the fall, I stop and breathe in the smell of autumn with a smile on my face. Yesterday, I got a kick out of watching children dance at the wedding, when “dancing” means pretty much just excitedly jumping up and down … and then an even bigger kick out of watching adults do it too.

Feel free to add your small pleasures to the comments of any post. I think these things are contagious. For instance, a while back Holly mentioned that one of her small pleasures is when there’s foam soap in a public restroom … and ever since then I think of her when I use foam soap and it makes me happy too!

Here’s an illustration of one of my favorite small pleasures… when a couple can find a way to really be together during their wedding ceremony, usually without talking, maybe just a look, maybe the way they hold hands, but something that allows the rest of the world to fall away and bring the focus on to that moment. This image is from Krystalyn and Justin’s wedding ceremony.
