Happy Holidays, everyone! I woke up this morning with the distinct feeling that happens only at Christmas. You can feel the energy in the air of people on vacation, looking forward to being with family and sharing good times and good food. The excitement is almost palpable!
This morning I want to tell you about a client and new friend, Heather Bondar, who is opening her own wedding planning business tomorrow, December 25. What’s cool about Heather is that she’s specializing in interfaith weddings. So many couples we’ve seen work to create the perfect balance of representing their families’ different faiths and cultures, and when it is done well it is so interesting and fun! Heather and her company, Bondar’s Brides, will be offering full service planning as well as consultations on everything from wedding etiquette to interfaith ceremony structure.
I haven’t done a wedding with Heather yet, but I have experienced her amazing organizational skills and fabulously chic style. She’s got a calm, encouraging demeanor that is always an asset on a wedding day, and impeccable taste. I had the pleasure of doing a session with Heather, so today I get to show you that beyond all those other things, she’s also stunning.

I was drooling over this bag and the shoes, and she showed them off like a supermodel.

And check out these lashes…

Not to mention the eyes. Kablammy!

And something fun for Christmas Eve.

And I’ll close with what is one of my new all-time favorite shots.

You can check out Heather’s site and congratulate her on her grand opening tomorrow, at www.bondarsbrides.com.

Hi Everyone! If you’re looking for holiday-ish things to do, one cool option is a tour of the Governor’s Mansion. This year we were thrilled to photograph the decorations again, and what we saw was a nice surprise. This year’s decor is more personal than it has been before, celebrating 40 years of the Governor’s Mansion with personal touches from the first family of Georgia.
One of the most beautiful spots in the mansion is the foyer and the main staircase. Decorations were done by our good friend Tamela at Southern Bouquets, and as usual, the decor was beautiful down to the smallest detail. I adore these deer, featured throughout the house.

The staircase features family photos from the Governor’s family, along with a couple of their personal photo albums.

Tamela even filled the tree with pictures of the Governor, and throughout the house you can see references to the things he enjoys, like flying.

Is it weird that some of my favorite decorations are in the main floor bathroom? They’re delicate little touches (also by Tamela), like this wreath and the details on the small tree. I want this wreath in my house.

Next to the details, though, my favorite thing is the Gingerbread mansion. This year Chef Holly did a beautiful replica of the Governor’s Mansion. The Governor jokingly took credit for its creation as he admired it.

My favorite parts: the melty snowman in the front yard, the sugar lanterns out front, the teeny licorice windows…

And the awesome candy cane plane on the roof, complete with gum propeller.

If you want to take a tour, you can see the schedule here.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Some of you who’ve been reading the blog for a while may already know that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Not because of the big meals or the day off, but because gratitude is so important. Gratitude makes us happier and allows us to remember what is important. On any given day, at any time, we can simply shift our focus from what is annoying or angering us to something we’re grateful for and the world looks a little different.
So, as usual, I’m starting my day by listing just a few of the things, big and small, that I’m thankful for at this very moment…
I’m thankful for the soft. sweet nuzzle of a dog face on a cold Thanksgiving morning.
I’m thankful for the warm orange glow of sunsets, especially during portrait sessions.
I’m thankful for clients who become friends.
I’m thankful that when an annoying commercial comes on TV, I can change the channel. Or better yet, fast forward on Tivo.
I’m thankful that we live in a place that where we can make anything of our lives if we try.
I’m thankful that I have a job that brings me joy and allows me to meet wonderful people and watch their families grow.
And,
I’m thankful that I have a blog to tell you what I’m thankful for, and hopefully to hear what you’re thankful for too!
What are you thankful for?
